From Southwest China, Connecting with the UK, Going Global.
Chinese companies are moving beyond product exports towards deeper and more sustainable global expansion. How can businesses identify the right overseas markets? How can they navigate legal, regulatory, financial and localisation challenges? And how can they leverage international expertise and resources to grow globally with greater confidence?
On 4 September (Friday, tentative), the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China, in partnership with the British Consulate-General in Chongqing, will officially launch the Go Global Southwest China Series in Chengdu.
The series will subsequently extend across Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou, bringing together UK and international expertise across professional services, finance, industry and government to provide Southwest China businesses with practical insights, connections and support for their global growth.
First stop: Chengdu. Registration is now open!
Why Chengdu & Southwest China?
As the economic engine and gateway of Southwest China, Chengdu boasts strong industrial clusters in advanced manufacturing, intelligent mobility, aerospace, electronics, digital technologies, life sciences, and high-end equipment. The city is also rapidly developing a comprehensive support ecosystem for enterprise internationalisation. This provides an ideal foundation for the Go Global platform – where UK government resources, professional services, and sector expertise can connect directly with local companies seeking sustainable international growth. Recent government‑business dialogues and sister‑city partnerships have already laid a solid groundwork for practical UK‑China collaboration across policy and industry. The decision to launch the"Go Global | Southwest China Series 2026"in Chengdu as the first stop further underscores the city's vibrant business environment and industrial dynamism.
Key Objectives
This forum is designed as an educational and business‑engagement platform that positions the UK as a trusted partner and source of expertise for Chinese companies going global – not solely as an end market. The programme is built around the practical questions business leaders face when planning international expansion, combining policy insight, professional guidance, sector perspectives and peer learning.
1
Improve awareness among Southwest China businesses of the practical requirements for successful international expansion.
2
Showcase how UK professional services, financial institutions, sector expertise and global networks can support Chinese companies across international markets.
3
Provide practical guidance on strategy, legal and regulatory issues, compliance, financing, localisation and stakeholder engagement.
4
Connect local enterprises with DBT, the British Consulate‑General Chongqing and relevant UK business expertise.
5
Create a repeatable Go Global platform that can be developed through the remaining Southwest China editions.

Whether you are a decision‑maker from manufacturing, advanced industries, technology, or financial services; a professional from legal, consulting, or corporate affairs; a representative of a government or enterprise‑service organisation; or a UK company with international expertise and networks – this forum brings together internationally ambitious enterprises from Southwest China and UK capabilities to provide you with the most practical guide to global expansion – with the UK as a hub that connects you to opportunities worldwide.
