China EVs on Road Average Just 1.8 Years Old, Report Says
China's electric vehicles have a much lower average age than gasoline-powered cars.

Chinese electric vehicles currently on the road are, on average, just 1.8 years old, compared with 8.2 years for gasoline-powered cars, according to a report jointly released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Hejun Consulting.
近日,中国汽车工业协会与和君咨询联合发布的报告显示,目前中国市场上的新能源车平均车龄仅为1.8年,而燃油车的平均车龄则为8.2年。
That is even shorter than the time many consumers keep their smartphones.

Rapid improvements in battery technology, intelligent-driving software and automotive chips have accelerated model upgrades, making older vehicles less competitive. At the same time, weak resale values have also encouraged owners to trade in their cars more frequently. An electric vehicle retains an average of 43.35% of its original value after three years, below the level for conventional gasoline-powered vehicles, the report said.
