This isn't just a railway hub; it's one of the core operating bases of the Zhengzhou International Land Port.

Take a look behind me. A China-Europe freight train with number X8003 is being loaded right now. In just a few hours, this train will pull out of the station and begin its long journey across the continent to Hamburg, Germany.

大家可以通过镜头看到,在我身后就有一列编号为X8003的中欧班列。不久后,这趟列车就会缓缓驶出,驶向德国汉堡

These "steel camels" have been crossing Eurasia for a decade now. And thanks to them, Henan, once a landlocked province, has transformed into a dynamic gateway to the world.

依托中欧班列这一穿梭于欧亚大陆的“钢铁驼队”,位于内陆腹地的河南,现在已经化身为面向世界的开放高地。

Today, I'm joined by Ms. Hou Liuxi from Zhengzhou Railway Logistics Center, to dive deeper into the story behind this transcontinental rail network. Ms. Hou, welcome, and thank you for being here today.

So, when did the very first China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) set off?

[侯柳汐]The first China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) departed for Hamburg, Germany, on July 18, 2013.

Over the past decade, the service has undergone a remarkable transformation, from a single-route, one-way operation to a pan-continental network. Today, it connects more than 40 countries across Europe and Asia, reaching over 140 cities.

经过十年深耕,中欧班列(郑州)实现从单线运营到全域通达的质变。从最初线路单一、单向开行,现已形成覆盖欧亚40余国、140多座城市的立体化物流网络。

[新华社记者王前慧]And what does that network look like in terms of scale right now?截至目前,中欧班列(郑州)目前的服务规模如何?

We now have 29 direct overseas terminals and 10 entry-exit ports, serving more than 8,000 foreign enterprises. In 2026 alone, we launched multiple new routes to Central Asia and South Asia, further expanding freight corridors from the Central Plains to the rest of the world.

我们已经拥有29个境外直达站点和10个出入境口岸,服务超8000家境外企业。2026年,多条中亚、南亚新线路开通,进一步拓宽中原对外货运通道。

Over the past 10 years, the cargo has seen a major upgrade. We've moved from general merchandise to high-end intelligent manufacturing. Today, the mainstays of our exports are high-value products like new energy vehicles, engineering robots, and precision equipment. In fact, right inside the containers behind us, there are many Chinese-made new-energy vehicles.

十年间,班列货源结构实现质的飞跃,完成从“百货出海”向“高端智造”的转型。如今,新能源整车、工程机器人、精密设备等高附加值产品成为出口主力。像我们身后这趟班列的货箱中,就装了很多中国制造的新能源车辆。

Thank you, Ms. Hou. Through this two-way rail service, many kinds of goods are flowing in and out, helping Henan truly "buy globally and sell globally."

I noticed that this hall is packed with imported goods. What are they, and where do they come from?

我注意到在这个大厅内,陈列着琳琅满目的洋货,这些都是什么?来自哪里?

German beer, Polish chocolate, Belarusian milk, French wine... all of them were shipped here via the China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou). We've set up cooperation stations, warehousing and distribution centers in international logistics hubs like Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany, Malaszewicze in Poland, and Almaty in Kazakhstan. Together, they cover more than 140 cities across over 40 countries.

We're currently accelerating the launch of new direct routes connecting Zhengzhou with Rotterdam and Barcelona. We're also setting up two overseas warehouses in Hamburg and Liege, plus a regional distribution center in Tashkent.

这里有德国的啤酒、波兰的巧克力、白俄罗斯的牛奶、法国的红酒……等等。这些都是经由中欧班列(郑州)运送过来的。

我们已在德国汉堡、杜伊斯堡,波兰马拉舍维奇,哈萨克斯坦阿拉木图等国际物流枢纽布局稳定的合作站点、仓储分拨中心,覆盖欧亚、东盟等40多个国家140多个城市。

目前我们还正在加快推进新增荷兰鹿特丹、西班牙巴塞罗那直达站点,布局德国汉堡、比利时列日2处海外仓,建设乌兹别克斯坦塔什干区域性集散中心。

That's impressive! I've also heard that "multimodal transport" is a major highlight of the China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou). Could you tell us more about that?

真厉害!据我了解,“多式联运”也是中欧班列(郑州)的一大特色。您能给我们详细讲讲吗?

Absolutely! Our group has launched rail-water intermodal routes from Zhengzhou via Lianyungang, Wuhan and other cities. We're also running rail-sea routes from Zhengzhou to Qingdao and Ningbo. And we've pioneered a sea-rail model that allows goods to be loaded straight onto vessels upon arrival at the port. On top of that, we've opened a rail-road intermodal route from Zhengzhou via Shule in Xinjiang to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

当然!我们集团目前已开通郑州经连云港武汉等地中转的铁水联运线路,稳定开行郑州至青岛、郑州至宁波等的铁海联运线路,创新“海铁直运”模式,实现“抵港直装”。此外,我们还开通了郑州经疏勒至乌兹别克斯坦和吉尔吉斯斯坦铁公联运线路。

In your view, what are the biggest advantages of the China-Europe Railway Express?

First and foremost, it's the combination of speed and cost. A China-Europe freight train takes only 15 to 18 days to reach its destination, compared to over 40 days by sea. For inland factories, that means no more long-haul trucking to coastal ports.

首先肯定是时效、成本优势:中欧班列运输时效仅 15-18 天,海运需 40 余天。内陆工厂无需长途转运至沿海港口

I imagine your company has seen significant growth because of all this.

我想,您的公司也获益匪浅。

Absolutely. Our team has grown from just a handful of people in the early days to over 40 today. In the beginning, our company handled only a dozen different types of goods. Now? We're able to handle over 1,000 product categories. We're not just exporting; we've also expanded into the European import business.

From your perspective, how has the China-Europe Railway Express changed over the past decade? And what's your takeaway?

The single biggest thing we've noticed is that the service has become more mature and more reliable with each passing year. And as a result, more and more companies are now seriously considering railway logistics as a core option for cross-border transportation.

十年来,我们最大的感受,就是中欧班列越来越成熟、越来越稳定,也让越来越多企业真正把铁路物流作为跨境运输的重要选择。

What does the China-Europe Railway Express mean for businesses like yours?

To me, it's much more than a transport corridor; it's a development pathway. It connects industries, links markets, and brings partners together. It's given more Chinese companies a convenient route into Europe, and it's made cross-border supply chains more stable and more resilient.

我认为,中欧班列带来的不仅是一条运输通道,更是一条连接产业、连接市场、连接合作伙伴的发展通道。它让更多中国企业能够更加便捷地走向欧洲,也让跨境供应链更加稳定、更有韧性。

From just 13 trains in 2013 to 3,735 trains in 2025, the annual average growth rate of China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) operations has exceeded 61%.

Henan has truly become a logistics hub that connects domestic and overseas markets.

河南也成为连通境内外的物流通道枢纽。

Standing at this new starting point, we believe the China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) will continue to expand its network.
