In March 2026, Realogistics was entrusted by a client to arrange the shipment of an aircraft engine stand from Hong Kong to Port Klang using 1 x 20’FR (Flat Rack).

I. Cargo Specifications
-
• Commodity: Aircraft Engine Stand -
• Dimensions & Weight: 509 x 331 (Oversized Width) x 203 (Oversized Height) cm / 4,750 kg -
• Challenges: The cargo was both over-width and over-height, requiring extremely high standards for stowage, securing, and weather protection.
II. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
-
• March 19: Cargo entered the yard; prepared for the customization of the wooden skid. -
• March 23: Completed timber cutting and fumigation pest control; assembled the wooden skid on-site. -
• March 26: Positioned the cargo onto the wooden skid and loaded it onto the Flat Rack. Secured the cargo using lashing straps and timber, covered it with a pre-ordered rainproof tarpaulin, and took final, precise measurements of weight and dimensions. -
• April 2: On the day of the vessel's berthing, the cargo was loaded onto a trailer, delivered to the terminal, and loaded directly onto the vessel from the chassis (under-hook operation).
III. Critical Bottlenecks & Realogistics Solutions
1. Shortage of Special Equipment & Delayed Import Customs Confirmation
-
• Issue: The carrier faced an acute shortage of Flat Racks. Furthermore, as the cargo was used equipment, the carrier required direct confirmation from the consignee regarding import customs clearance before releasing the empty container. The consignee's delayed response severely disrupted the loading schedule. -
• Realogistics Action: Realogistics proactively developed a contingency plan (preparing to reposition an empty container from Taiwan). Simultaneously, leveraging our strong carrier relationships, we actively bridged the communication gap to assist the consignee in providing swift confirmation, successfully securing the container.
2. Sudden Requirement for a Third-Party Lashing Survey Report
-
• Issue: Immediately after cargo securing was completed, the client suddenly requested a lashing survey report issued by an independent third-party surveyor. -
• Realogistics Action: Capitalizing on a slight delay in the vessel's departure, Realogistics demonstrated exceptional agility. We immediately dispatched a marine surveyor to the site, coordinated with the warehouse to unlash the cargo for photographic evidence, and promptly re-secured it to the highest standard. The survey report was successfully acquired and delivered to the client without delaying the shipment.
IV. Summary
Aircraft parts logistics demands absolute precision. This project once again highlights Realogistics’ extensive experience in handling special equipment and our robust crisis management capabilities. From fumigation, loading, and securing, to resolving equipment shortages, communication bottlenecks, and sudden inspection requirements, Realogistics responded instantly, turning challenges into success to ensure the cargo was delivered safely and on schedule.
