To all of you involved in Russian e-commerce or international trade, let’s be honest: once the goods have been dispatched, isn’t the last thing you want to hear the word ‘damaged’?
In fact, more often than not, it’s not that the couriers are ‘clumsy’—it’s simply that our packing methods aren’t up to scratch! With a journey of thousands of kilometres by road and rail, coupled with Russia’s weather that can easily drop to tens of degrees below zero, if the packaging isn’t up to scratch, your goods might arrive in Moscow as little more than a ‘skeleton’.

这几个坑，千万别踩！
Make sure you avoid these pitfalls at all costs!
在教大家怎么包之前，先给大伙儿提个醒，下面这些“自杀式”打包，咱坚决不做：
❌别直接用商品的彩盒发！
那个盒子确实漂亮，但那是给摆在货架上看的，不是用来跑几千公里长途的！纸皮太薄，不经造，等到了俄罗斯，里面估计早就稀巴烂了。
❌别省那点儿胶带！
只在缝隙处象征性缠两圈可不行。万一遇上个下雨天，或者箱子受潮，底部一开裂，东西全漏出去了，哭都来不及。
❌别让货在箱子里“乱晃”！
箱子里要是空荡荡的，货物在里面到处乱撞，这一路的颠簸下来，边角不撞坏才怪呢。
Before I show you how to pack your parcels, let me give you a word of warning: we must absolutely avoid the following ‘suicidal’ packing methods:
❌Don’t send items directly in their original retail boxes!
Those boxes may look lovely, but they’re designed to be displayed on shop shelves, not to withstand a journey of several thousand kilometres! The cardboard is too thin and flimsy; by the time it reaches Russia, the contents will probably be in tatters.
❌Don’t skimp on the tape!
Just wrapping a couple of symbolic turns around the seams won’t do. If it happens to rain, or the box gets damp, the bottom will split open and everything will spill out—you won’t even have time to cry about it.
❌Don’t let the goods ‘rattle about’ inside the box!
If the box is empty and the goods are bouncing around inside, it’s a miracle if the corners don’t get damaged after all that jolting along the way.
记住这几招，货物安全有保障！
Keep these tips in mind to ensure your goods are safe!
针对中俄陆运/卡航的特点，咱们只要做到下面这几点，基本上就能高枕无忧了：
1. 外包装要够“硬”
别舍不得花钱买好箱子，五层加厚纸箱是底线！如果是重家伙和易碎怕压品，直接打木架/木箱/木托。这就好比穿鞋，走远路肯定得穿双结实点的鞋嘛。
2. 填充物要塞满
气泡膜也好，废报纸也罢，把箱子里所有的缝隙都填满。你使劲晃箱子，如果听不到里面有什么动静，那就算过关了。
3. 封箱要像“捆粽子”
除了用胶带封成“工”字型，重货记得在外面勒上几道打包带（就是那种塑料绳），捆成“井”字。这样哪怕箱子再重，也不怕它中途爆开。
4. 特殊货件的“VIP待遇”
有些娇贵的货，咱们还得单独伺候一下：
衣服鞋子这些：千万记得加个防水袋！别觉得外箱没事里面就没事，万一淋点雨受潮发霉，前面的功夫全白费了。
液体或者膏体：瓶口一定要封死，最好外面裹层吸水棉，再装进密封袋。尤其是冬天发过去，低温容易冻裂，漏得到处都是可就糟了。
带电池的货：这个一定要注意安全！电池触点记得贴个胶布绝缘，单独包一下，别让它跟别的东西乱碰，安全第一。
家具大件：俄罗斯买家对家具颜值要求可高了，一点磕碰都可能退货。所以边角一定要加护角条，别让辛苦赚的钱因为这点小伤打水漂。
Given the nature of land transport and truck freight between China and Russia, as long as we follow these points, we can essentially rest easy:
1. The outer packaging must be sturdy enough
Don’t skimp on buying good-quality boxes—a five-layer reinforced cardboard box is the minimum requirement! For heavy items or those that are fragile or susceptible to damage from pressure, use a wooden frame, wooden crate or wooden pallet straight away. It’s just like wearing shoes: if you’re going on a long journey, you’ll certainly need a sturdy pair, won’t you?
2. Pack the box to the brim with filling material
Whether it’s bubble wrap or old newspapers, fill every gap in the box. Give the box a good shake; if you can’t hear anything moving inside, it’s good to go.
3. Seal the box like you’re ‘wrapping a zongzi’
As well as sealing it with tape in a ‘T’ shape, remember to wrap a few layers of strapping tape (the plastic kind) around the outside of heavy items, criss-crossing them to form a ‘well’ pattern. That way, no matter how heavy the box is, you won’t have to worry about it bursting open en route.
4. ‘VIP treatment’ for special items
Some delicate items require special attention:
Clothes and shoes:Do remember to add a waterproof bag! Don’t assume that just because the outer box is fine, the contents are safe too. If they get a bit wet, damp or mouldy, all your previous efforts will have been in vain.
Liquids or pastes:The bottle openings must be sealed tightly; ideally, wrap them in absorbent cotton before placing them in a sealed bag. This is especially important when sending them in winter, as low temperatures can cause them to freeze and crack, and a leak would be a disaster.
Items containing batteries:Safety is paramount here! Remember to insulate the battery terminals with adhesive tape, wrap them separately, and ensure they don’t come into contact with other items – safety comes first.
Large furniture items:Russian buyers have very high standards when it comes to the appearance of furniture; even the slightest scratch or dent could result in a return. So be sure to fit corner protectors to all edges and corners – don’t let your hard-earned money go down the drain over such minor damage.
