The two main transformers were shipped from Lianyungang on March 31 and reached the Port of Algiers on May 15, with a total sea transit time of 46 days. Breakbulk vessels were deployed for the shipment. Taking full account of the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, the owner and vessel registry were carefully vetted, and the direct route via the Red Sea and Suez Canal to the Port of Djendjen was selected. Compared with the conventional Cape of Good Hope detour, this route cut the voyage by approximately 14 days and substantially shortened the overall transportation cycle.

After the equipment arrived at the port, the project team tackled customs clearance delays caused by the Eid al-Adha holiday. They expedited customs documentation and oversize transport permit applications, finalized a dedicated hoisting and transshipment plan in parallel, and efficiently completed inland transportation of the equipment to the construction site.

The two main transformers delivered to site serve the core function of collecting PV power and stepping up voltage for grid integration. As a key component of Algeria’s national strategic energy initiative, upon completion the project will supply clean, stable electricity to local communities and drastically raise the share of renewable energy. It carries vital strategic significance for optimizing the country’s energy mix and advancing green development.

The Algeria 88MWc PV power station is situated in Ksar Chellala, Tiaret Province, north-central Algeria. Authorized by Algeria’s Ministry of Energy and Mines to Sonelgaz, the project is a new energy scheme funded entirely by the government. Covering a total site area of around 2,400 mu, with built-up structures occupying roughly 1,800 mu, the facility is functionally divided into four zones: PV array area, step-up feeder substation, 60kV overhead transmission lines and receiving substation. The scope of work covers design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the power generation station, step-up substation, administrative auxiliary compound, 60kV high-voltage overhead lines and grid connection facilities within the client’s substation.

The Algeria 88MWc PV project is currently in a critical construction phase. All on-site personnel will keep a tight grip on milestone targets, enforce stringent safety and quality controls, scientifically coordinate construction schedules, and press ahead with all construction tasks at full capacity to guarantee steady, efficient progress of the project.
