The United Nations Global Compact Liaison Office in China is now accepting applications for four internship positions, including:
Operation (BRI for SDG action platform)
Participant Engagement
Communication and Content Creation
Programme Management
Interns will be based in either Shanghai or Beijing, with hybrid working options combining in-person and online work available.
The expected start date for all interships is June 10, 2026. Application deadline is June 3, 2026.
Job responsibilities, qualification criteria and application guidelines are fully disclosed as follows. Eligible students with relevant academic backgrounds and a strong interest in international organization and sustainable development work are invited to submit applications in accordance with the official requirements.
Posting Title: Operation Intern (BRI for SDG action platform)
Location: Shanghai (in-person)
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the planning and coordination of a major conference to be held under the UNGC Belt and Road Action Platform. This includes supporting the development of the conference agenda, identifying and contacting potential speakers and participants, managing registration processes, and coordinating with venue providers and service vendors to ensure smooth event execution;
Draft and translate a variety of project-related documents (English<->Chinese),including press releases, speeches, social media content, and other materials;
Conduct research, compile background materials, and gather statistical data to support advocacy activities, media events, and the preparation of official documents and routine correspondence;
Provide logistical and operational support for both on-site and online campaigns and events, such as workshops and conferences. This includes tasks like preparing slides, video shooting and editing, photography, and facilitating communication between media and corporations through video programs;
Perform other programmatic and administrative tasks as needed,
contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
Educational and Experience Requirements
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
A first-level university degree in business administration, management, marketing, social science or a related field;
Enrolled at least in an undergraduate program, the graduate program is preferred;
Enrolled in the final academic year of undergraduate / graduate
program during internship fulfillment;
Previous work experience in international context / in the desired fields is a good add-on, preferably operation, translation,
communications, marketing and ESG;
Basic image, video editing, and design knowledge and skills would be a good add-on;
Proficiency in English and Chinese is required.

Location: Beijing, China
Duties and Responsibilities
Supports outreach and engagement in China through presentations, public engagements, marketing partnerships, etc. to extend the awareness and reach of the UN Global Compact among relevant business audiences;
Assistant to attract businesses to join the UNGC through effective communication of the value and support that the UN Global Compact delivers to business participants;
Assists in onboarding new business participants, supporting them to make the most use of their participation in the UN Global Compact;
Supports in conducting marketing related researches and paperworks to support outreach and engagement campaigns;
Helps business participants with ongoing administration and customer support: application review, onboarding, annual reporting, maintaining and updating company profile/contact info, logo requests, etc.

A first-level university degree in business administration, management, marketing, social science or a related field;
Enrolled at least in an undergraduate program, the graduate program is preferred;

Posting Title: Communication and Content Intern
Location: Beijing, China
Position Summary
The Communication and Content Intern will work on the UN Global Compact China Communications Team to provide assistance in promoting the UN Global Compact’s public recognition and branding in general. The main tasks are to maintain the conventional and social media channels, including content creation and management; to assist in marketing communications and campaigns for promotion and recruitment purposes; to support in content research, consolidation and creation needed to localize and execute China strategy and programs; to assist in the preparation, edition and designing of the publications and promotional materials; and to conduct assigned marketing research and outreach communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create, develop and edit design products, such as social medial graphics, infographics and other visuals for publications, campaigns and events, in accordance with UN Global Compact design standards and policies;
Assist to prepare, create and maintain the visual and editorial content for UN Global Compact’s media and communication interfaces, including official Chinese website and Chinese social media;
Assist to design and implement marketing campaigns to stakeholders for promoting UN Global Compact's brand, events and for motivating recruitment;
Create and develop video materials and print designs;
Support with communication and branding tasks associated with events, conferences, meetings, workshops, seminars/webinars,
etc., and assist in the events preparation and delivery;
Research on given corporate social responsibility and sustainability topics and formulate messages for presentation, communication and/or branding purposes;
Collect, compare and analyze data and information and generate
productive outcomes for the marketing communication purpose;
Assist in translation of documents and publications from English to Mandarin, and vice versa, individually or in cooperation with translation partners;
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements/Personal Qualities
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
Enrolled at least in an undergraduate program, the graduate program is preferred;
Enrolled in the final academic year of undergraduate / graduate
program during internship fulfillment;
Majored in Marketing, Communication, Media, Journalism, Design, and equivalent subjects;
Previous work experience in the desired fields is a good add-on, preferably within an international organization and / or the
function of corporate social responsibility;
Proficiency in English, both oral and writing, is required;
Excellent business writing, editorial and translating skills;
Self-driven, can-do, eager-to-learn and details-oriented attitudes;
Well-organizing, task-prioritizing, punctuality and multi-tasking work ability;
Knowledge and experience in website and social media design and maintenance is a must;
Proficient in Microsoft Word tools, and knowledge in graphic design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, In-Design, Acrobat, etc.) is desired.

Location: Shanghai/Beijing (fulltime in-person, or partial in-person and partial online)
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the management and delivery of UN Global Compact’s capacity building programme in China, with focus areas of sustainable development, climate action, gender equality, and innovation;
Support content localization of resources on the UN Global Compact Academy;
Support the planning and logistics of offline and online activities and events;
Support research, media analysis, content development and
localization, outreach, social media and communications, and
some administrative works.
Educational and Experience Requirements
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
A first-level university degree in international development, business administration, management, social science, climate action, gender studies, innovation, or a related field;
Enrolled in a postgraduate or doctor program, or last year of an
undergraduate program during the whole duration of the internship;
Previous professional/internship experience in a desired field is a good add-on, especially in sustainable development and ESG;
Familiarity with SBTi, WEPs, ESG rating system and other corporate sustainability principles, initiatives and tools will be an asset;
Basic image, video editing, and design knowledge and skills would be a good add-on;
Proficiency in both English and Chinese is required.
