Courses Introduction:

1.The intangible cultural heritage textile

The intangible cultural heritage project textile has a very important position and influence in our intangible cultural heritage system. "Appreciation of intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese textile industry" is a general course for all professional students. The course covers art, economy, management, and other multi-disciplinary professional contents. It aims to improve college students' cognition of China's textile intangible cultural heritage through the connotation, existing situation, cultural symbols, intangible cultural heritage, and national culture, case appreciation. Textile intangible cultural heritage guide students to participate in all-round and multi-angle, and let intangible cultural heritage.

2.International Trade Practice

To help the students fully grasp the international business processes and main customs and practices for the international trade practice; to help the students clearly understand the trade terms and the attentions on the conclusion of the contract of the international sales of goods; and to develop the students’ basic skills in executing the contract and dealing with the disputes.

3. Fashion and Garment

“Fashion and Garment” is a course based on basic knowledge of clothing and fashion. The main blocks are “background resources”, “ basic knowledge”, “ latest progress”, “typical cases”, and “highlights” in fashion and garment. It is an interesting and hybrid course comprised of origin of clothing, clothing fabrics, fashion design, clothing equipment, fashion trends, and garment trade. Since this course is mainly for international students, it is necessary to introduce Chinese elements into appropriate teaching blocks. Besides, this course focused on fashion and garment, and the soul of fashion depends on constant innovation and never-stopped pioneering. Therefore, this class teaching modules on hotspot issues and the latest trend about fashion in this course. “Fashion and Garment” provides a novel study about brilliant topics and sparkled issues in fashion and clothing for international students, generating appropriate knowledge supplement for students majoring in textile, clothing, and fashion.

4. College Chinese

With the improvement of international status, China has influenced the extensive of economy, politics, culture and other aspects, more and more people want to learn Chinese. The purpose of this course is to open the door for students with zero foundation of the Chinese language to learn Chinese. This course includes Pinyin, Chinese characters, vocabulary, grammar, which helps to improve foreign students’ Chinese ability. The first stage of the course is basic Chinese course, which mainly explain the pinyin knowledge of initials, finals, tones, syllables, and so on. Follow up courses will improve the students' comprehensive ability to listen, speaking, reading, and writing according to the teaching materials. Chinese character part will introduce form, sound, and meaning. In the grammar part, the explanation of prepositions, quantifiers, auxiliary verbs, and other grammar rules can improve students' Chinese level theoretically and practically to achieve the purpose of daily communication.

5. Introduction to China

“Introduction to China” conducted in English is a kind of cultural courses designed for undergraduate and graduate students who are majored in English-taught programs. This subject contains many different aspects including Chinese history, geography, natural environment, culture and habits, and economic development, aiming to assist international students to get the panorama of P. R. China rapidly. It consists of 7 chapters. Through this subject, international students are supposed to manage not only the essential background knowledge as well as the useful information about China but also the social-economic culture merged into the four main missions of Chinese citizens, namely gastronomy, garment, accommodation, and transports. Moreover, international students can study and live in China better.

6.Chinese Characters Visual Impression

In terms of graphic design, Chinese characters are undoubtedly the greatest and most successful design in the history of human society. With the simplest design elements and the most abundant and complex design methods, it has designed one constant and simple "product" after another and made these products extremely rich in connotation, extremely perfect structure, so widely used, and far-reaching influence.
