I. University Profile
Xinyang Normal University is located in Xinyang, a famous historic and cultural city in the south of Henan Province. The school was established 1975 and it was upgraded to a university-level school in 1978 with the approval of the State Council. In 1998, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to become a university with rights to confer master degrees. At present, it has the rights to confer master degrees for applicants of equivalent education level, master of education, master of interpreting and translation, master of physical education, master of tourism management, and master of engineering.
The university attaches great importance to scientific research. It has established the Humanities & Social Sciences Key Research Base of Henan Province, the Engineering Laboratory of Henan Province, the Academician Workstation of Henan Province as well as other more than 20 scientific research platforms. It has presided over more than 600 national social sciences fund programs, national natural sciences fund programs and scientific research projects above provincial and ministry levels since 2006.
The university has always attached great importance to the training quality of talents. It has successively trained and provided more than 100,000 talents of various levels and types for the country. More than 5,000 graduates have become senior teachers. More than 400 graduates have been national-level and provincial-level excellent teachers.
The university has signed strategic cooperation agreements with many universities such as Central China Normal University and Henan University. It has established relationships with overseas universities in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea to perform cooperation in running schools. It has successively dispatched students to have their further study at the universities in USA, UK and New Zealand; in addition, it enrolls foreign students from countries such as USA and South Korea.

III. Application and Admission Requirements
1. Non-Chinese citizens who are above 18 and below 60, with good health, willing to study in China, abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and rules and regulations of Xinyang Normal University, respect the customs of Chinese people and observe social moralities can apply for admission to the school. Any applicant who plans to study in any undergraduate program shall provide his or her high school graduation certificates; any applicant who plans to study in any postgraduate program shall provide his or her university diploma or degree certificate.
2. The Chinese proficiency of any applicant who will attend Chinese instructions shall reach the new HSK level 4 (above 180 points) or above (or equivalent Chinese proficiency); any applicant who will attend English instructions shall have favorable English achievements, for example, TOEFL score above 83 points/IELTS score above 5.5 points or corresponding levels (not applicable to students from English-speaking countries).
3. Each academic year has a spring semester and an autumn semester. The arrangement of semesters may vary due to the unspecific time of spring festival in Chinese lunar calendar.
Each spring semester may start from late February or early March of each year, and it will end in middle July of the same year;
Each autumn semester may start from late August or early September of each year, and it will end in middle or late January of the next year.
Chinese learning and further study programs are not subject to the limit.
4. Duration
2-3 years for postgraduate students; 4 years for undergraduate students, 6-12 months for language students; unspecific term for further study students.
IV. Application Documents

2、Ordinary passport;
3、Education level certificate (copy)
4、Academic transcripts for corresponding education level
5、HSK Level Certificate (copy, it is exempt in case it is not available);
6、Overseas Personnel Physical Examination Form
Notes: (1) Scanning copies of application document originals can be submitted for application; (2) In case such application documents are not made in Chinese or English, they shall be translated into Chinese or English and notified by a local notary organ; (3) No matter admitted or declined, the above application documents will not be returned.
V. Review and Admission
1. The university will start review after any applicant submits all required application documents. In addition, any applicant may be asked to provide supplementary documents or materials as per conditions or requirements.
2. The university will select best applicants as per their academic transcripts in high schools and universities as well as comprehensive language proficiencies.
3. The university will usually use an internal express to send a Letter of Admission of Xinyang Normal University for Overseas Students and a Visa Application for Study in China to any applicant within 15 working days after the documents or materials pass our review.
VI. Admission and Registration
1. Any admitted applicant shall go to a local embassy (consulate) of the People’s Republic of China to acquire a visa for study in China with the above Letter of Admission of Xinyang Normal University for Overseas Students, Visa Application for Study in China and a medical examination report.
2. Any admitted applicant shall check in at the International Exchange & Cooperation Division of Xinyang Normal University as per the time specified on the above Letter of Admission of Xinyang Normal University for Overseas Students and a Visa Application for Study in China with the original copies of the Letter of Admission of Xinyang Normal University for Overseas Students and a Visa Application for Study in China and a Physical Examination Form for Foreigners and a Form JW202.
3. Upon registration of new students, the school will check the original copies of each student for application. If any student’s original copies are different from the scanning copies he or she submitted, the university will cancel the admission qualification of the student.
