One of the most interesting Chinese cities is Chengdu, seen as the center of Sichuan province. It is located in the south-west of the country, and it is very easy to get there. This city is quite comfortable to live. There is a mild and temperate climate with very warm and calm winters without frost.

Several centuries ago, it was known primarily as a city engaged in the supply of brocade (fabrics with a pattern, for the creation of which used silk and metallic threads). For several years, during the reign of the great dynasty of Chengdu, the city was the temporary Chinese capital. The city began to be called the city of hibiscus. This is quite understandable, because there were many of these flowers which could be found here, especially near the city walls. Later, the city was renamed once again, but on its territory, there still remain many luxurious flowers and trees which attract a lot of tourists.

Chengdu is a modern tech city but at the same time, there are also many interesting and beautiful historical monuments.
For example, In the city you can find many so-called tea houses which were build a few centuries ago. Those days, such pleasure was available only to grandees but now every visitor can drink a cup of fragrant tea in a tea house. These authentic cafes are arranged differently. Some are designed precisely to find peace, drink a cup of tea in silence and play Mahjong (an authentic Chinese game with dominoes). Also, there are tea houses where you can watch a performance, listen to live singing of opera singers or simply order a relaxing foot massage.
In the city of Chengdu, you can eat delicious Sichuan dishes. The main characteristic of this quisine is its use of hot spices, which add a bright taste to any dish. Locals also love meat, especially beef. Visitors should definitely try beef cut into thin pieces, fried over high heat or steamed. Another popular dish is world-famous pork in spicy and sweet sauce, cooked in a very special traditional way.

The main attraction of the city of Chengdu is the so-called Palace of the green goat. The Chinese call it Qingyang. This is an aesthetically beautiful and very interesting place. Lovers of culture and art should also visit the house of the famous Chinese poet Du Fu and Wuhou temple. There is just a special atmosphere that everyone will appreciate.

Another interesting place to visit is the panda center. The large Chinese pandas who live here are truly the national treasure of the country. They are even listed in the Red Book.

There are some other natural places which are definitely worth a visit. Most notably are two parks, located near the city. As the parks are included in the Unesco World Heritage List, you could say they are seen as important places to both Chinese and foreigners. Untouched nature, a blue sky and a clear blue-green lake is not something unusual to come across when visiting these park. It probably explains why several small villages can be found around Jiujigou park.

For a more active advanture, you can visit the water park. It just happens to be that one of China's best water parks can be found in Chengdu. Another interesting place for family walks is the Teddy Bear Museum. This is the world's largest museum dedicated to this cute bear. There is a local Disneyland in the city which is one of the most beautiful and vibrant.

If you are more interested in something spiritual, rather than material, you can visit one of the local temples. In addition, right next to the city there is one of the biggest Buddha statues in the world carved from a huge rock. It is the size of a twenty-stores house, so it is almost impossible to remain indifferent next to such a statue.
This is a great city with a lot of interesting places, where you can spend the winter or even live, learning culture and language.
