Chinese program in BIPT

The Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology (BIPT) was founded in 1978, growing out of the former Beijing Petrochemical School and the second branch of the Beijing Institute of Chemical Engineering. It got its present name in 1992. The management of the Institute was transferred from the Sinopec Group to the Beijing Municipality in 2000. BIPT is now well equipped with education facilities. It has three campuses located in Qingyuan, Kangzhuang, and Yanshan respectively, covering a land area of 76.7 acres and a construction area totaling 264,000 square meters. The Institute boasts teaching and research equipment worth 580 million yuan, 920,000 physical books, and 1.24 million digital books.

After 41 years of construction and development, BIPT has evolved into an established university featuring engineering practice. It takes engineering as its key discipline while exploring the inter-penetrating and coordinative development of disciplines of science, engineering, economics, management, and arts. Running 14 departments, BIPT has 37 undergraduate majors, one post-doctoral research station, four first-level master's disciplines, including Materials Science and Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Business Management, one Professional Master's program of Materials and Chemical Engineering. At present, BIPT has 7396 full-time students and staffs more than 800.

The Institute provides international students with various scholarships including Beijing "One Belt, One Road" Scholarship, Beijing Scholarship for International Students, Beijing "Forbidden City Scholarship" and BIPT’s scholarships for outstanding students.
