Lebanese Chef Successfully Changes from S-Visa to Work Visa in China
A Lebanese chef was staying in China on an S-Visa when a restaurant decided to hire him as Head Chef. However, before he could officially start working, he needed to change his visa status and complete the work permit and residence permit process.

The main challenge was timing. His S-Visa had limited validity left, while the work permit application required time for document preparation, review, and approval. If the process was not planned properly, he could face a gap in legal stay, and the restaurant’s hiring plan could also be delayed.
After reviewing his situation, we created a clear transition plan based on his visa expiry date and the restaurant’s onboarding schedule.
To avoid any legal stay gap, we first helped him apply for a temporary visa. This gave him enough time to remain in China legally while the work permit process was being handled.
At the same time, we worked with the restaurant to prepare the required company documents, checked the chef’s personal materials, and guided both sides through each step of the application.
In the end, the chef successfully changed from an S-Visa to a legal work status in China.
He was able to stay in China throughout the process, and the restaurant welcomed him onboard as planned without operational delay.
