As the leading company in the coiled tubing market, Schlumberger, has announced their latest product, the ACTive OptiFIRE coiled tubing (CT) real-time selective perforating and activation system has been released. This device gives users the ability to use perforating in combination with CT fiber-optic real-time telemetry. An advantage of this new product is that the selective perforation procedure can be repeated at a variety of depths, with both time and money saved through clear indications of every firing and hydrostatic pressure control.

ACTive OptiFIRE went through extensive lab testing, which showed how the system successfully actuated over 14 simulated detonators at a temperature of 347°F. The product was also tested in the field with exactly 10 interventions in a range of often complex conditions in Mexico and Malaysia, in both offshore and onshore environments.
