在实际的翻译实践中，细节方面的疏忽可能会造成翻译不准确甚至误译。如果敷衍了事，不深入分析这些细节和疏忽，那对于细心的读者和客户来说，就是不负责任的行为。我们要尽量规避翻译的“雷区”，就要知道哪些方面容易出现“雷区”。本文通过几个翻译案例来初步探定翻译中容易步入的“雷区”。具体总结如下：
1.关于according to/in accordance with和based on
1）according to/in accordance with介词短语，意思是按照，根据。
2）based on……动词短语，意思是基于……，根据。
A.首先看一下以下三个短语的区别：
e.g. 根据报告，得出结论。
• Based on the records
• According to the records
• From the records
Based on the records
Means that you came to a conclusion after you read the facts in the records, but the conclusion itself was not in the records.
结论不包含在报告中
According to the records
means that the conclusion was in the records.
结论包含在报告中
From the records
is too ambiguous to be considered precise English. We would use one of the other two, depending on the specific meaning.
报告太模糊，不能得到准确信息，根据具体意思，会选取另外的一两点去得出结论
• 例1：根据金属材料基体的不同，加入适量6.4.1.4中指定的酸。
According to the the metallic material matrix, add an appropriate amount of the acid specified in 6.4.1.4.
正解：Based on the metallic material matrix, add an appropriate amount of the acid specified in 6.4.1.4.
• 例2：根据GB/T 1345的规定，按筛析试验方法的不同水泥标准筛分负压筛、水筛和手工干筛三种
Based on the requirements ofGB/T 1345, the cement standard sieves are divided into negative pressure sieve,water sieve and manual dry sieve depending on the sieve analysis test methods.
正解：In accordance with the requirements of GB/T 1345, the cement standard sieves are divided into negative pressure sieve, water sieve and manual dry sieve depending on the sieve analysis test methods.
B. 接下来我们看一下according to 和in accordance with的差别。这两个短语都有“根据、按照”的意思，但是在用法上还是有些许不同的。
“According to…”通常在你要重述你从某人那儿听到的内容、你听说的内容或者在某处读到的内容时使用。这个短语通常用于新闻报道。
例：According to the state news agency, the number of demonstrators did not exceed 1,000. However, the organizers of the protest say there were at least 100,000 people on the march.
据国家新闻机构报道，示威者人数不超过1000人。然而，抗议活动的组织者表示，游行队伍中至少有10万人。
“In accordance with…” 用于更为正式的情景，引入依据内容。在法律文本中，这个短语用于说明与法律或合同一致的内容。这个短语不得用于引入可能并不真实的信息。
例：第三条编制电力监管报告应当依法进行。
Article 3 Electric regulation reports shall be compiled in accordance with law.
简而言之，如果根据的是一般的信息而非法律规定等极为正式的信息，用according to；如果根据的是法律规定等极为正式的信息，用in accordance with。
例：可根据用户的特殊需求，按行业标准提供各种规格的镀锌丝。
According to the special needs of users, various specifications of galvanized wires can be provided in accordance with professional standards.
2.关于“无折皱”、“无损伤”等类似翻译
例1：负压筛析仪外观无伤痕，配件齐全
1) Negative pressuresieving apparatus, with complete accessories, is free of flaws in appearance.
2) Negative pressuresieving apparatus, with complete accessories, is free from flaws in appearance.
3) Negative pressuresieving apparatus has complete accessories, without flaws in appearance.
例2：砌筑用的块石表面应清洁，无杂物和冰霜等。
1) The surface of the block stone used for masonry shall be clean, withoutdebris or frost, etc.
2) The surface of the block stone used for masonry shall be clean, and there is no debris or frost, etc.
3) The surface of the block stone used for masonry shall be clean and free from/of foreign matter and frost, etc.
free from不受，使摆脱
free of免于，摒除
在ISO中，这种表达方式，free from/of都是可以的，所以两种方法都可以采用。
without可以根据句式去判断，一般都是有一个中心词，without去补充说明。
no建议可以用在多种缺陷中，可用no defect like…….
3. 关于直译
直译作为一种翻译方法，能够传达原文意义，体现原文风格。据估算，大约70%的句子要用直译方法来处理，所以我们平时翻译的时候，直译用的也比较多。
例如：
机械工程的范围可分为两个主要方面：热学和设计。
The mechanical engineering may cover two major areas: thermology and design.
但直译不等于死译，直译有一定的局限性，如果忽略了文体与文化差异，就容易造成误解，闹出笑话。比如，在财经翻译中：
escape clause“逃跑条款” （→免责条款）
invisible trade“看不见的贸易”（→无形贸易）
negotiating documents“谈判文件”（→议付单据）
例：
政策上不搞“一刀切”。
（比喻对复杂事物不作具体分析，而是用一个标准来对待）
译1：We should not impose "cutting by one knife"on the implementation of the policies.
参考译文：We shall not take a one-size-fits-all approach on the implementation of any policy.
我们在翻译的时候，要注意条件、句型及一词多义的情况。
I read all the anti-trade literature I could get my hands on. Yet throughout it all, not once did I hear logical, never mind reasonable, case against free trade.
译：我阅读了所有能够找到的反自由贸易材料，无论这些材料合理与否，并没有获取到任何合乎逻辑的反自由贸易实例。
注：本句中，literature与“文学”无关，而是指小册子之类的印刷品；hear不是“听见”，而是“获取信息”；never mind reasonable不直接修饰case,而是插入语。
翻译中还会出现误译现象
1）An increase in calcitonin secretion quickly follows any increase in blood calcium concentration.
误译：降钙素分泌的增加会引起血钙浓度的迅速增加。
正译：任何血钙浓度的增加会导致降钙素分泌的迅速增加
误译中因为译者没有注意follow这个词的意思，导致译文意思与原文截然相反，大相径庭。其实细心点的翻译人士都知道当follow作为谓语当伴随讲时，宾语比主语先出现，所以应该如正译中调整句子的顺序，才能正确表达原文的意思。
2）There is a world of difference between physics and chemistry on the one hand and literature and history on the other.
一方面物理和化学差别很大，另一方文学和历史差别也很大
改：物理学、化学与文学、历史差异很大。（实际强调理科与文科的差异）
3）Warner Bros. release the movie inthe Middle Kingdom before anywhere else.
华纳兄弟将电影最先安排在中央王国上映，而非其他地区。
改：华纳兄弟最先在中国上映电影。（简练。貌似已经承认我大天朝的地位，至少在票房上）
4）Repeated exposure of the liver to toxic agents is the simplest cause producing the cirrhosis of the liver.
原译:肝脏反复暴露给有毒物质，是肝硬化的最简单的病因。
exposure一词，在一般词典和常用医学英语短语中译为“暴露”，但根据专业医学词典，还有一条释义是指受到某物的作用。
正译：肝脏反复受到有毒物质的侵害，是肝硬化的最简单的病因。
5）词义延伸
This drug is available for both oral and parenteral administration.
原译：本药对口服或注射用有效。
正译：此药可供口服或注射用。
Drugs to deal with such a crisis should always be available during the injection of myodil.
译：在注射碘苯酯期间，宜备好应付危急情况的药物。
Available可用的；可得到的，有效的，在翻译中应该加以引伸。才能准确无误的翻译出来。
出现误译主要是搞混词义辨析和词汇引申，所以重要的就是结合语境，联系上下文，这一点我们在日常翻译中，应该都切身体会过，这里只是举出几个例子，不再赘述。
4.主被动语态
例1：本工程所有脚手架采用Φ48mm、厚3.5mm的焊接钢管
译1：All scaffoldings of the Project adopt welded steel pipes with a diameter of 48 mm and a thickness of 3.5 mm.
译2：Welded steel pipes with a diameterof 48 mm and a thickness of 3.5 mm are made for all scaffoldings for the Project.
析：过于直译，从主动关系上考虑，脚手架与adopt之间没有必然的联系，因此主动关系不成立；其实，是暗含了“人（例如承包商）在本工程中应采用焊接钢管用于（制作）脚手架”，但考虑到没必要交代出承包商等主语，所以采用被动比较合适。
例2：负压源采用功率≥600 W的工业收尘器，或相当功能的其他设备，可产生不低于6 000 Pa的负压，并能保证筛析仪在4,000 Pa～6,000 Pa范围内调整。
译1：The negative pressure source uses industrial dust collector with a power of ≥600 W, or other device with equivalent function, so that the negative pressure of not less than 6,000 Pa can be produced, and the sieving apparatus can be regulated within 4,000 Pa~6,000 Pa.
译2：Industrial dust collector with apower of ≥600 W, or other device with equivalent function is used as the negative pressure source, so that a negative pressure of not less than 6,000 Pa can be produced, and the sieving apparatus can be regulated within 4,000 Pa~6,000 Pa
注：
汉语中，关于“采用”的理解有多种：
1）采纳（意见、方案），可译成adopt；
例：这项新工艺得到了更加广泛的采用。
The new technology has been more widely adopted.
2）使用，可译成use、apply、employ
例：我该采用何种媒体？
Which media should I use?
3）采用…制造/组装…，可译成… made of…
例：本工程所有脚手架采用Φ48mm、厚3.5mm的焊接钢管
All scaffoldings for the Project are made of welded steel pipes with a diameter of 48 mm and a thickness of 3.5 mm.
4）选用，可译成“be”
例：控制器应采用西门子S7-200可编程控制器
The controller should be Siemens S7-200 programmable logic controller.
Siemens S7-200 programmable logic controller should be used.
通过以上的案例，我们发现翻译的“雷区”随处可见。如果我们不够细心，随时会踩雷。因此，我们要时刻警惕它们——深入理解原文，不能只看表面意义；多总结、多辨析。我们相信，只有从细节上规避翻译的“雷区”，才能提高我们的翻译质量，体现我们的翻译水平。
