A pretty active weekend in Shanghai's nightlife scene this weekend, though if you're not a fan of the BOOM-TSH BOOM-TSH BOOM-TSH of house or techno, then Friday is your night. Here's your indispensable party guide for this weekend.
Murlo and Deadboy
The Shelter, 10pm, 60RMB
Murlo and Deadboy arrive in Shanghai having absolutely blown up Seoul last weekend. Between them they play everything from dancehall to sweet house music and grime. Highly recommended.
Samuli Kemppi
Arkham, 10pm, 100RMB
Kemppi is representing the Finnish corner in a techno style, and is hoping to help Footprint celebrate four years of events in suitably raucous style.
Mark Knight
Lola, 10pm, 200RMB
Knight flies in from the UK to bring you a night of big room 'deep house' as has been the flavour of the month recently. At 200RMB in, it's too expensive to actually be in a big room, and indeed it's not; the venue is Lola.
Diskonnected, Wata Igarashi and Okuda
The Shelter, 10pm, 60RMB
Two Japanese and one Taiwanese DJ fly in to play The Shelter and show that techno isn't just the preserve of unimaginative Germans. In fact, Space Debris Committee - which is run by Japanese expats Stanley and Ginga - has consistently been pushing an uncompromising and challenging take on the sound. Don't expect any tech house.
