Online shopping giant TMall upped the ante for the Singles Day shopping extravaganza last night with a star-studded variety show - their own spin on CCTV's Spring Festival Gala.

Guests included Daniel Craig (in China to promote 007 flick Spectre, which hits cinema screens this Friday) and pop stars Jolin Tsai and Jane Zhang (who you might know from her beer brand-backed Tiesto-produced hit 'Change Your World').

Of course, it's basically a massive advert - one that may well have contributed to consumers here burning through 4 billion USD in the first hour of sales today - but there are some entertaining moments nonetheless. It's certainly an improvement on this year's staid CCTV Gala. Plus, if flooding the Great Wall with Stormtroopers wasn't enough, Disney provided another strong hint that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will get a China release by providing some imperial guards for the event.

If you can pry yourself away from buying stuff you don't need for three hours of advertising, you can watch the whole thing below. If you just want to see Daniel Craig looking awkward while people next to him talk in a language he doesn't understand and he has to play some weird briefcase opening game with Jack Ma, you can skip to 170 minutes...
