It's not exactly as big a shock as the news of JZ Club's closure, but this time next Monday we'll officially be in a post-LOgO era. The people behind the long-running bar and club have announced that this Saturday 16 April will be the Xingfu Lu venue's last hurrah.
LOgO first left Xingfu Lu in late 2010, having occupied a space opposite where the Tipsy Fiddler now stands a few doors down from DADA since 2007 (a space it took over from old live music venue Tang Hui for those with long Shanghai memories). The back room was a dancefloor/gig space/fire code-baiting death trap that would regularly pack in crowds for DJ sets and punk-rock shows, crowds who would spill out into the lounge out front and the streets outside for a smoke, quick game of foosball and/or to pop into the convenience store next door for a cheap beer.
The milling crowds on Xingfu Lu caused numerous problems with the police and eventually the venue was shuttered, before being reborn in the summer of 2011 just around the corner from Tianzifang. That space proved short-lived and LOgO eventually found its way back to Xingfu Lu, this time in the same basement as Uptown Records (which celebrates its fifth anniversary this weekend incidentally).
The people at LOgO, whose former LUNE space reopened last weekend as Elevator, are adamant that LOgO won't return this time, meaning the next few days are your last chance to visit the venue. The most attractive of the last few parties looks to be Friday's pre-party for Night SHFT Fest with Ozzie, Skinny Brown, Chace and RMZ.
And the final ever night at LOgO? This:

Ah well, so long LOgO.
