Promoters Split Works have confirmed that Damien Rice will be playing an extra show in Shanghai after tickets for his initial concert in the city sold out in just 45 minutes. Rice will now be doing an afternoon show on the same day as the original evening gig in the main room at the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall as part of Split Works and the SSO's Contemporale series.

Tickets will be on sale through Gewara, Oriental Tickets and at the venue from 9am this Saturday (23 April), but you can also reserve tickets right now. Here's how (the text below is taken from Split Works directly):

1. RSVP to dr@shsymphony.com (first come, first served) with your details – name, email, phone, passport number. Non-Chinese nationals only and one ticket per email and passport number! RSVPs are NOW OPEN, and close at 4pm on April 20. Remember that kids under 1.2m are not allowed entry to the SSO hall.

2. In your email, put “Split Works DR” in the subject line, and mention which ticket you’d like: 680, 480 or 280RMB.

3. Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will confirm your request within a few days, and you’ll receive an email if your RSVP was successful (remember to check your spam folders!) BEFORE April 23.

4. If you get a confirmation, you’ll then have to pay and collect your tickets between April 26 and May 2 (9am to 8pm) at the SSO Ticketing Office (1380 Middle Fuxing Road 复兴中路1380号). Bring your passport!

5.If your RSVP was unsuccessful, you can still get passes at www.gewara.com/ or www.ticket2010.com/default_en.aspx - these open 9am on April 23. Expect heavy traffic.

Good luck!
