After LUNE went out with a bang last month, we now have a better idea of what will be rising from its ashes. And we mean rising - the new joint is called Elevator, presumably referencing the building's notoriously tiny lift, and will be a place dedicated to 'underground electronic music', games, film screenings and other activities.
The project of longtime Shanghai DJ and promoter Mau Mau and friends, Elevator will feature two ping-pong tables, darts boards and board games on weeknights for the after-work crowd, with the games making way for the dancefloor at weekends. Music-wise, expect house, disco, techno and funk, plus repping of local DJ talent alongside international bookings.
There are also some interesting sounding daytime events, such as 'morning raves', recovery yoga, music workshops, exhibitions, film screenings and other collaborations. Inside there'll also be a tiny experimental 'restaurant' called Crouton, a vestibule area for visual installations, and of course the bar, with a freshly squeezed drinks menu.
Organisers haven't hung around, with a number of bookings already made for April and May. Highlights include the opening party with MIIIA and Deep 19 on April 8, house producer Red Rack'em the following night and The Black Madonna on May 1.
