UNKLE Sounds
Friday 15, Arkham, 150RMB (100RMB presale)
The latest incarnation of James Lavelle's acclaimed UNKLE act - you know, the groundbreaking Mo' Wax electronic project that's seen the likes of DJ Shadow, Thom Yorke, Mike D and DJ Krush lend their talents over the years - hits Shanghai with a special audio-visual extravaganza. R2, ADO8, Donn and Faded Ghost are in support. Get down to this if you can.
See one of Beijing's best
Queen Sea Big Shark
Saturday 16, MAO Livehouse, 120RMB
QSBS play their first proper gig in Shanghai in ages, promoting their new album Beijing Surfers' Adventure. The band have something of a reputation for their live shows being big on spectacle and this should be no different, especially as they're plugging their first LP in six years. Expect this one to be busy.
Listen to Queen Sea Big Shark's new album and read an interview with frontwoman Fu Han on our music page.
Lights out at the Chinese F1

Formula 1: The Chinese Grand Prix
Friday 15 - Sunday 17, Shanghai Circuit. From 380RMB
The F1 season has started as dramatically as ever, with qualifying returning to its old format after controversial changes, and Nico Rosberg claiming two wins out of two suggesting Lewis Hamilton won't have it all his way this time round. Round three sees the F1 roadshow pull into the Shanghai circuit in Jiading - it's a great chance to see (and hear) these machines up close. Tickets cover all three days of events.
Special bagels at Xintiandi

Friday 15 April
Today from 2-9pm, there’s a pop up at Spread the Bagel Xintiandi in collaboration with nightlife promoters Love Bang. Touted as a Shanghai Fashion Week Takeover, there’ll be cat-shaped bagels (need we say more?), pink soda, bagel chip nachos, cinnamon toast crunch bagel chips and oh so much more. If you get thirsty, there’ll be 200 bottles of free Vedett. The event will also feature DJs, installations and giant cats. Sounds pretty fun!
Spread the Bagel Xintiandi is at room 116, Xintiandi Style 245 Madang Lu, near Fuxing Zhong Lu, Huangpu District.
From Shelter NYC to Shelter SH

Casablanca Soul: Timmy Regisford
Friday 15, The Shelter, 80RMB before midnight
Club Shelter NYC resident and house legend Timmy Regisford returns to Shanghai as part of Edamame's Casablanca Soul party series. Known for 'musical journeys' that last an entire night (he dislikes the term 'set'), Regisford will be playing until closing/until everyone is so deliriously exhausted they can't dance any longer.
Record store day
