A sheet of glass was dropped from the 76th floor of the Shanghai Tower this morning, injuring one person.
Workers dropped the sheet, which was replacing a broken piece of glass on the building, at around 10.45am according to Shanghai Daily. One man who was getting out of his car on Dongtai Lu at the time was sent to hospital after sustaining foot injuries - a thankfully small injury toll.
The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation, officials have said.
“We will take further measures to prevent similar accident in the future,” a spokesperson for the Shanghai Tower said.
The tower, which is the second-tallest building in the world, soft-opened last month, but the public aren't being allowed up to that 119th floor observation deck just yet.
