Although the origin of PETANQUE can probably be traced back to ancient Greeks, France developed this game after the French Revolution during the 18th century. Nowadays, petanque is a common activity in cities and towns all over France.
And it's not just a game that's limited to France - as of 2015, there were more than 600,000 licensed petanque players from 5 continents in 94 national federations, with the numbers increasing.

The French Petanque Tour was launched last year by PR agency Parishine with support of the French Embassy’s 3 culture departments, and now it is coming to Shanghai! Head to Pudong Thumb Plaza this Sunday (24 April) and Jin Hongxiao in Changning district on 8th May to witness this special event.
The purpose of such events covering all China main cities is to help people to get out of the home and to enjoy socialising with family and friends. More and more Chinese people stay at home without any face to face interactive social life and the founder of French Petanque Lili Ren insists that people need to talk face to face and enjoy some relaxed social life, and that French Petanque is very good for creating this interactivity between people of all ages.

We welcome everyone this Sunday the 24th of April to join us at the Thumb Plaza to play Pétanque! It’s a very popular sport from France that's easy and fun. You can team up, meet people and relax while playing this precision game.
