[AD] Hyatt Regency Chongming's Family Charity Run

Hyatt Regency Chongming held a Family Charity Run on May 15, partnering with the Kidnewer charity project to raise money for sick children with kidney troubles. Nearly 150 marathon participants and 40 hotel volunteers took part in the 2016 Family Charity Run fundraiser, showing love and care through running.

Family Charity Run participants needed to complete the 3 km (1.9 mi) or 10 km (6.2 mi) challenges with family members. All of the run’s application fees will be donated to charity. The purpose of the event was to help children with kidney disease and children who need a kidney transplant. It is hoped that the charity efforts will attract more attention and concern for uremic patients and pediatric renal transplantation, to help save the lives of more children through kidney transplants.

At 8:00am, participants gathered at Jinmao Villa, the run’s starting point.  Everyone registered and attached a number totheir T-shirt. After the starting gun fired, the passionate yellow-clothed contestants easily reached the first 2 km(1.2 mi), and most participants continued confidently toward the next 4 km (2.5mi) goal.  During the 6 km to 8 km (3.7mi to 5 mi) stretch, after the halfway mark had been passed, some contestants gave up. However, many participants continued to complete the run. After a short break at the supply depot, some participants moved on, focused on the children’s hope. During the run, volunteers encouraged participants from the roadside. In the end, 20 participants finished the full 10 km (6.2 mi) run. At 11:30 am, participants were ready to enjoy the 3 km (1.9 mi) family run, which featured children, parents and pets running together.  While the participants ran, they were flanked by their dogs or led by their pets, which made for an endearing scene. The activity lasted nearly four hours and was full of positive energy and deep love— a great new life experience for many!

Along the way, participants demonstrated healthy, happy and stylish attitudes in support of raising funds for the sick children with kidney troubles and truly embodying the spirit of the event. When we connect, meaningful things happen.
