Want to enjoy this summer away from the hustling and bustling in Shanghai?
From August 5 to 7, M2 Desert Electronic Music Carnival is set to light up the dry air in Kubuqi Desert.
The carnival features more than a dozen domestic and Mongolian rock bands, presenting to the audience an authentic Mongolian lifestyle.

Like every other nomadic culture, Mongolian culture is well-known for its hospitality. Upon guests’ arrival, traditional offerings and treats are served - dairy products in the summer time. Mongolians traditionally lead a pastoral, nomadic lifestyle, and for them, desert is part of their life.
Located in the northern Ordor Highland, Kubuqi desert is the seventh biggest desert in China. The word “kubuqi” means“bow string” in the Mongolian language, signifying this bow-shaped desert lying along the lower course of the Yellow River.

Right in the midst of the desert is, beyond the expectation of many, the Engebei Ecotourism Area, established more than two decades ago.

Now an oasis with a forest coverage rate of more than 70 percent, the Engebei Ecological Zone has become an embodiment of China’s desert greening development.

Naturally, as part of this man-made process of reclamation of deserts, this carnival will also promote tree-planting as its theme.

This August in Engebei, one of China’s most well-known rock icons, Mr. Zang Tianshuo, will personally direct this grand desert music carnival, which will for sure be a big hit.

The line-up comprises a list of popular artists:
Black Horse, YAKSA, Suffocated, ChuanZi, Tulegur, Mega Soul, Army of Jade Kirin, HAYA, Brain Failure, Twisted Machine, New Men, ShuangZi, New Travel, as well as bands from Mongolia.
