Canadian pop-punk outfit Simple Plan are making their third visit to Shanghai in August, with two shows in as many nights scheduled for the Mixing Room (in the basement of Mercedes-Benz Arena) as part of their Taking One for the Team tour.
The new tour follows their album of the same name, which was released in February and was their first full length record in five years. If you're concerned that the album title marks a marginal maturation for the band following LP names such as No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls (2002), Still Not Getting Any (2004) and Get Your Heart On! (2011), rest assured that songs on the new record include the likes of 'Everything Sucks' and 'I Don't Wanna Go to Bed'.
Perhaps aware that these names are intellectually challenging, frontman Pierre Bouvier was kind enough to explain the band's reasoning during our 2012 interview with him: 'I think, you know, these album names are just to put a smile on people’s faces. Like Get Your Heart On!, to us it’s kind of like a joke, and of course an erection joke, and also we wanted to ignite the idea that the music comes from the heart and we’ll hopefully touch your hearts too.'
