// SUSTAINABLE DESIGN //

Immerse yourself with art installations by artists Keflione (France), Carlo Maria Rossi (Italy), Xixi Yang (China), Wook Jin Han (Korea) and Climate Change exhibition by Business Ecology

△ Hailing from Korea, artist Wook Jin Han, uses LED to create creative signboards. These LED signboards, at the very most, consume up to 3 watts of power and have energy saving features that are eco-friendly.

△ ‘Everyone Needs A Box’, is Xixi Yang's latest art creation. Rimmed with neon lights, Yang wishes to showcase to the audience the importance of organizing recyclable items into different boxes.

△ Carlo Maria Rossi is an Italian Concept Artist experienced in scenic and abstract art. Combining the concept of light, oil painting and a mixture of sounds, he presents his artworks in a unique fashion with lighted cloth as the backdrop of his designs.

Ever heard of sustainable fashion? Reusing, recycling and using natural products to reinvent and upscale design art pieces are efforts to reduce heat emissions and be more eco-friendly. Let EDF bring you to a world of sustainable fashion with daily fashion presentations donned and draped by eco-independent designers Joyce Wang and Tiffany Pattinson, as well as Oba’s latest “Re/Claim” capsule collection where the brand carefully sorts through bins of luxury fabric pieces and swatches and crafts them into the line. Pompous styling, hair and makeup will be complemented by Studio Ebony.

Participate in our seminars to learn how to make a difference with our dynamic and insightful speakers who are passionate about the eco way of life. Or visit our 4R Corner (Repair, Reuse, Refill and Recycle) where you can repair your pre-loved items under the magical hands of our enchanted electricians and tailors. Looking to substitute your pre-loves? Recycle, reuse or swap them at our 4R corner! If you are thirsty for knowledge, you can learn more about recycling e-waste with Green Initiatives, Shanghai’s first city wide non-profit e-waste recycling program at the exhibition as well.

Do also keep a look out for eco&more’s 艾可茉 refill station where you can bring any empty bottles of your choice for eco&more’s 艾可茉 refill at just half the price. eco&more’s 艾可茉 refill program is about more than just selling eco-friendly products but also reducing the amount of plastic generated. Saves plastic. Saves money. Saves the world. Join eco&more’s 艾可茉 ‘’greenness’’ as a way of life.

△ Hailing from Switzerland, Jonas is one such designer who harmonizes the beauty of fashion,art and eco-consciousness in his craft. Jonas creates many beautiful crafts including home furniture and home accessories. His end products are emblematic of sustainable fashion where crafts can be made more environmentally friendly using upcycled materials yet exude beauty in and of itself. These designs not only enrich our lives but also serve to spread the message of eco consciousness where heat emission is reduced in the process of reinventing art works. (The above pictures show a kettle and biscuit tins that Jonas has turned into useful household products.)

// CHILDREN’S DAY WEEKEND //

Come celebrate Children’s Day with us at EDF where we have an entire floor dedicated just for kids with free classes for children of all ages. Groove at a free dance class sponsored by Souldancing and handicrafts activities with heARTS organization. There are also more exciting games such as the virtual games of nature where you can put on the VRGoggle to experience simulated environmental problems in an immersive virtual setting. Create arts & craftswith PlayClass or even learn coding with Plobot

△ Souldancing, a platform for people to lead a healthy lifestyle through dancing, is an international oriented dance studio that provides dancing classes to adults and children. Having amassed many years of artistic experience in artistic production and direction since 2006, Souldancing tailors their dance classes to artists all over the globe.

△ PlobotCoding for Kids! Want to equip your child with the tools for an enterprising future? Then spark your kid’s natural curiosity with coding classes. Did you know, schools in Australia, Canada and Britain have adopted coding into the national curriculum, some starting as young as five years old? The idea is seen as a long-term solution to filling the tech jobs of the future.

If you start kids young, learning programming skills greatly benefits them in their careers, just like learning a language or a musical instrument. Besides increasing brainpower, proponents of kids learning coding stand by the facts that children are encouraged to become creative, because coding spurs kids to be articulate, think logically and see the world as building blocks ready for construction, creating smart kids.

“This new generation has different mental models than ours. I remember when I used to play video games with a computer. Now kids can create them. From 3D printing and virtual reality, the list goes on and on. All of them are fun and exciting because they give us new ways to create,” says Rudolfo Cossovich, Robotics Professor at NYU-Shanghai and CEO and Founder of Plobot, a revolutionary toy that specifically teaches kids to code.

He will be running workshops during the EDF weekend. These fun workshops will teach kids the language of the future in a very fun and interactive manner. Suitable for ages 4-12 years. Sign your kids up early for the workshop. Spaces limited to 25 per workshop.

△ Founded in 2015 in Shanghai by a group of creative individuals, PlayClass 玩课 is an interactive game platform for play-based learning targeted at children of all ages. Its do-it-yourself (DIY) approach forges a learning culture that encourages room for creativity, sharing of knowledge and interaction amongst children. DIY-based classes entail lifestyle activities, art and crafts, cooking etc. where children are exposed to environmental values whilst having fun.
