Shanghai's home of the beer-drinking bat-swinging combo Cages has closed its Changhua Lu branch - but before you think it's one of the many shutdowns in recent weeks, they will be back with an even bigger bang before the month is out.
Cages has stopped operations at its original location and is moving a few blocks down the road (literally) to Jingan Sports Centre with the grand opening set to be on Saturday 30 July. As well as promising their new home will have a bigger batting area - presumably behind the 'mega' tagline - they are also bigging up the new activities on offer inside. On top of the existing baseball, darts, pool and dodgeball, there will also be indoor football, cornhole (whichafter researching we discovered is basically chucking beanbags through a hole) and Ice Hockey (we've no idea how that's going to work either).
Intruiged? They're having a prolonged 'cage-warming' until August 31 with a 50RMB coupon for guests to swing by and experience the new place (they recommend calling ahead to make a reservation). Hopefully the free swinging will make up for the emptiness we're all feeling right now.
