10th Anniversary of The Berlin Tasting

Last Saturday was a day of great joy for Errazuriz Winery, one of the most reputable wineries in Chile. It was the first time that they held a master class and dinner in Shanghai to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Berlin Tasting, and the event held at the Jingan Shangri-La was a great success.

The winery owner, Eduardo Chadwick, along with Fongyee Walker, senior wine educator, co-founder of Dragon Phoenix Fine Wine Consulting and co-chairman of WINE 100 Challenge, and Steven Spurrier, editor of Decanter and chairman of DWWA, hosted the master class, and shared the quality of Don Maximiano, Seña and Viñedo Chadwick wines which overwhelmed even the First Growths wines of the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and the top Super Tuscany IGT wines.

As it claimed to be the 10th anniversary since 2004, why should it be in the year 2016 to celebrate it in Shanghai? Eduardo Chadwick, representative of the fifth generation of the Errazuriz family, revealed the answer: “Twelve years is a cycle in China according to Chinese horoscope. The year of 2004 was a year of the monkey when the Berlin Tasting was taken place, and so is 2016. We hope this could be as auspicious as the monkey is in China.”

A Chilean classic song named “Si Vas Para Chile” (If You Go to Chile) was performed in Chinese traditional instruments at the end of the dinner. Just like the music, Errazuriz wines have become a common language that is enjoyed by people all over the world.
