To mark China's National Tourism Day on Thursday 19, major attractions throughout Shanghai will offer half price admission tickets.
While the not-yet-open Shanghai Tower isn't on the list unfortunately, a number of Lujiazui's other skyscrapers are: the Oriental Pearl Tower is definitely worth a visit along with the Shanghai World Financial Center Observatory and the Jin Mao Observatory - all of which are offering half price entry on Thursday.
Alternatively, you can take the day off (subject to approval by your bosses, of course, ahem) and head to one of Shanghai's popular water towns. Zhujiajiao, Fengjing and Xinchang are also on the list if reduced entry at these spots floats your boat (though to be honest, we've always avoided the ticket gates at these places and gotten in for free anyway...).
If theme parks are more your bag, you can pick from popular places such as Shanghai Happy Valley or quieter spots like the Shanghai Film Park. Once again, many are going half price for adults on Thursday.
