News for those who haven't already ventured up there: the observation deck of the Shanghai Tower is now (more or less) open to the public, as well as a couple of other parts of the Lujiazui mega-tower.

The building hasn't had its official opening just yet, but members of the public can now visit the 118th floor viewing platform, which offers 360 degree views of the city, after buying tickets from floor B1 of the tower. Tickets cost 180RMB for adults and 120RMB for children.

However a spokesman told us that, as they haven't officially cut the ribbon on the place, they can't guarantee that the deck will be open at all times just yet.

Also now open are the Guan Fu Museum on level 37, housing artefacts, antiques and sculptures (entry 100RMB), and an exhibition area on level B1, featuring a giant collage of televisions which show a time-lapse of developments around the Huangpu river. Also on level 37 is the Bakou Art Centre which appeared to be 'VIP only' for now, but they are hosting an exhibition of portraits of Marilyn Monroe next month.

There's also an indoor 'sky garden' on the same floor, which offers a decent view of the city for free. Well, they called it a garden, but we're not sure this counts...

Anyway, it's still a decent free view if you can't stomach going to the very top.

Keep an eye on our blog for more news on what's going on inside the Shanghai Tower.
