As we hinted in our post on Queen with Adam Lambert coming to Shanghai - a show which has now been confirmed - Welsh pub rockers Stereophonics and English singer Birdy are set for gigs in Shanghai in July.

In the region for Fuji Rock Festival and a number of smaller affairs in Taiwan and South Korea, the acts will be playing on back-to-back nights at Shanghai Majestic Theatre, with a third gig from Korean pop star yet to be announced. The shows are part of a new series from promoters Live Nation, better known for their large-scale stadium concerts - a series they're calling Zai Live and that will feature more international names in the coming months.

Coming straight outta Cwmaman, Stereophonics first emerged in the late '90s with a punchy rock sound typified by break out single 'Local Boy in a Photograph', but soon slowed things down for a decidedly MOR guitar-driven pub-rock sound. Songs such as 'Just Looking', 'Have a Nice Day' and 'Dakota' helped the Welsh band to five consecutive number one albums in the UK and, having released a greatest hits compilation in 2008, they are currently pushing their ninth album, Keep the Village Alive, released in September last year.

Here's the Apocalypse Now-ish video for 'The Bartender and the Thief':

Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde, better known as Birdy (for some reason she thought this would be catchier for a music career), is a British singer-songwriter who was originally best known for her covers (Bon Iver's 'Skinny Love', the xx's 'Shelter' and Ed Sheeran's 'The A-Team' prominent among them).

She's increasingly carving out a name for herself through her own material however, having seen her self-titled debut album top the charts in Australia in 2011 and her third LP, Beautiful Lies, released at the end of March this year, hitting the top 10 across Europe. Check out her own 'Wild Horses' below:

Tickets for both shows will be available through Time Out Tickets very soon.
