Arkham has been throwing us into some confusion over the past 24 hours. Yesterday we learned that, following last week's safety inspection, the club were told they'd have to remain closed until they had made significant safety improvements linked to their classification as a basement venue. It was sounding like that would mean no Arkham for the rest of November.
But later in the day we read that tonight's show with James Lavelle, of UNKLE Sounds fame, was going ahead, so long as they didn't 'promote' the show. Which was, well, confusing.
However owner Reggie Bape confirmed to us this afternoon that Arkham is closed tonight (with the UNKLE show being moved to Celia), and the club will remain shut for the forseeable.
Bape told us Arkham are having a bit of a tug of war with the government at the moment, authorities saying they'd have to shut until safety regulations have been checked. They received a call from said GovBods this morning, the result of which is Arkham will definitely be shut tthis weekend, and possibly for the rest of the month.
They can't say when the club will be ready to re-open - we'll pass on any info as soon as we have it.
With The Shelter throwing their final party on New Year's Eve, here's hoping we won't be losing two underground clubs at the end of 2016.
