Qixi, otherwise known as Chinese Valentine's Day, is rapidly approaching on Tuesday August 9, and if your other half is already asking what you have planned for a romantic night out, we've got you covered.

Qixi commemorates the love of Cowherd and the Weaving Maid, and falls on the 7th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar. In contemporary times it functions just the same way as the Western Valentine's Day, with partners exchanging gifts and enjoying a romantic night.

Here are just a few special events Shanghai has to offer - click 'read more' at the bottom of this post for the full list of Chinese Valentine's events.
