A rap video entitled 'This is China' has been making international headlines after it was posted by the Chinese Communist Youth League on their Weibo account on Tuesday. The video features Chengdu rap group CD REV spitting lines such as 'China is a developing country / It has a large population and is really hard to manage' in an attempt to correct what they see as misleading portrayals of the country in Western media.
The video touches on issues such as pollution (likening the situation here to 1950s London and LA), drug security and how 'it is shameful to talk about some politicians' because of corruption and prostitution scandals. They also note that 'you are prolly confused about the situation of Taiwan' before explaining how China is changing for the better and highlighting the country's peaceful nature along with its technological and scientific advances.
Anyway, we can't really do it justice by simply describing it; you just need to watch it:
And if slightly nauseating sing-along English-language propaganda coming out of China is your thing, you can also check out this made-for-foreigners video on the thirteenth Five Year Plan from last year:
