It has been over a year since the last Shanghai ComicCon ('SHCC' as fans have it) celebrated its birth in Shanghai last May.
On 22 September, 2016 SHCC announced this year’s powerful line-up and the latest news at a press conference in Shanghai. This year’s SHCC falls at the same venue, Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing, on the weekend after Halloween. Whether you are a hard-core comic fan or a curious commoner to pop culture, this is the place to continue the heat of Halloween craziness.
Collect all your favourite fandoms at SHCC
From 2015 SHCC to 2016 BJCC, ReedPOP Comic Con has been the battle field for all popular IPs to fight for fans’ attention. From Cartoon Network, which first debut at 2015 SHCC, to Korean comic series, Tales of the Unusual, which fascinated fans at 2016 BJCC, ReedPOP never stopped bringing great titles together. At the coming SHCC, fans will be able to see various pop culture master pieces and brands, including and not limited to, Adventure Time and We Bare Bears with Cartoon Network, Game of Thrones and Westworld with HBO, Japanese collections like, Doraemon, Dragon Ball, Gundam, Street Fighters, Macross, and Romance of The Three Kingdoms, as well as Si-fi series like Star Wars, Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Robotech, Transformers and Person of Interest (POI). Guests, toys, screening, comic books, panels, all these great contents will penetrate the Comic Con and surround the fans in its various forms.
2-day entry VIP tickets sold out within 15 mins
Amy Acker, who played Root in the recent popular TV series, Person of Interest and Robert Knepper, T-bag from one of the most widely known American TV shows, Prison Break, were announced to be the entertainment guests of 2016. Their Chinese fans have been thrilled since the two names were announced at 2016 BJCC - the 2-day entry VIP tickets with exclusive panel opportunities with entertainment guests were sold out within 15 mins after the ticket opened. The third entertainment guest, Billy Boyd, a Scottish actor known as Pippin from The Lord of Rings trilogy, was unveiled at the press conference. For this time, SHCC will have a fourth entertainment guest, Nathan Fillion, who plays key roles in Castle and Fireflies respectively.
Even if the VIP tickets are sold out, fans can still get plenty of chances to meet their favourite entertainment guests by following main stage programmes, or line up for a paid professional photo ops where they can spend a few minutes of intimate time with their beloved figures.
Shoji Kawamori joins ReedPOP China Comic Con again with a powerful collection of creator guests for American Comics
A powerful collection of international and domestic comic artists will attend the coming SHCC to meet their fans - sign posters, comic books, attend panels and sharing sessions. To name a few, Japanese comic artists Shoji Kawamori (Macross) and Hidetaka Tenjin (Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary), both of whom have attended previous BJCC. The creator of a well-known classical Japanese comic series has been announced as well, Yoichi Takahashi, who is much welcomed by the fans.This will surely trigger a trend of nostalgia.
Arthur Adams and Salvador Larroca from Marvel and Marcus To from DC Comics, together with a group of other American comic artists, will bring popular works like X-Men, Justice League, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Spider-Man, and The Avengers to every single audience.
Chinese local comic artists are getting more attention as well – in addition to Wang Pu and Wang Yue Hai Ning, who attended the last BJCC several months ago, popular internet comic creator Shi Tu Zi and Ji Di, who is famous for her warm and touching style, are joining the party and going to sign works for fans.
It is worth mentioning that this year, fans will meet the representatives of Hong Kong comics at SHCC as well. Ya Jieduo, Ye Mingfa and Li Chonghao will bring Fung Wan, King of Fighters and other classic Hong Kong style comics from Hong Kong.

An upgrading fashion and trend block
Fans who love pop toys and illustrations should visit the BLOCK at SHCC – AlexSolis, a Chicago artist, comes to Shanghai again with his Chunkies series. Nathan Hamill (Hollywood actor Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker actor's son) comes with his big-eyed toys, collections so popular that even the Hollywood Science Fiction Museum included them in their collections. Jason Freeny, the magical “anatomist” in comic circle brings his work, too. Don’t let your coolest toys sit at home and get dusted, bring them to SHCC and meet their creators!

The BLOCK at SHCC will be hosted and presented by Adfunture, a trendy culture studio. In addition to toys and fashion products, more limited edition items will surely light up the passion of Shanghai fans!
