Bars & Clubs

Genome6.66Mbp

Friday 23, DADA, Free

Local up-and-coming sonic crew Genome6.66Mbp have their launch party at DADA ahead of the release of their debut compilation next month. On the bill are three of the producers featured on the compilation - Tess (Hyph11E), RVE and Dirty K - as well as other crew members Kilo Vee, Charity, Khemist and VJ Tavi on the visuals.

Performance

Shakespeare's Globe: The Merchant of Venice

Thursday 22-Sunday 25, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, 280-1080RMB

Shakespeare's Globe comes to Shanghai this month for what is set to be a series of spectacular performances of The Merchant of Venice. Check out our interview with Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce on our performance page on playing Shakespeare's most controversial villain.

Food&Drink

The Kerry Craft Beer Festival

Saturday 24-Sunday 25, Kerry Hotel Pudong, Free

The brew fest is back offering the opportunity to enjoy craft beer and delicious food from over 25 domestic and international breweries and food vendors, as well as DJs and live music throughout the day. Also on tap will be a special collab beer between The BREW and Time Out. Here's a little promo video to whet your appetite:

More foodie events over the weekend include the European Food Carnival and Shanghai Wine and Dine Festival. See today's bulletin for info on these and all the food and drink fests coming up.

Things to do

Color Run 2016

Saturday 24-Sunday 25, Sunland Green

The self proclaimed 'happiest 5k on the planet' takes place this weekend, and although spots for the run sold out in just a few days, you can still go and witness the spectacle as runners are pelted with colourful powders in Waigaoqiao.

Music

The Fleshtones

Friday 23, Yuyintang, 80RMB

They played their first show at CBGB (and were one of the last bands to play the hallowed NYC gig spot), once shared a practice room with The Cramps (but were the ones kicked out for making too much noise) and have worked with everyone from Steve Albini to Sir Ian McKellen. Over the course of 40 years in the game, there’s not much for New York garage rockers The Fleshtones to check off of their wish list, but this week sees them add another first – their debut show in Shanghai. Check out our chat with them ahead of the show on our music page.
