On top of paying bills, hailing Uber/Didi rides, sending kuaidi, tracking step counts and ordering delivery from that restaurant that you really ought to be walking to, WeChat has a new trick up its sleeve. Now you can manage your personal health on one bilingual platform through the wonder-app.
Renji Hospital, the first Western medicine hospital established in Shanghai, has introduced an integrated personal healthcare management platform which offers online appointment reservations, online consultation, real-time retrieval of medical reports and occasional health tips.

You can follow the service on WeChat by searching 'Renji Hospital', and once on the service select the 'English' tab.
What can you do with this service? Well, first of all, you need to go for a quick health check at Renji hospital in person before you can do very much over WeChat. But once you've done that you can receive e-consultations with doctors to provide you with personalised healthcare as well as the other functions mentioned above.
Is it free? Well if you have a good health insurance policy, yes - they offer a direct billing service with many insurance providers. But if not users will have to pay the normal public hospital fees for the initial consultation, and it looks like there may be fees involved for online consultations through WeChat.
Going to the doctor's through WeChat - it was only a matter of time, we suppose.
