The renowned art fair is back for its 20th year, showcasing celebrated artworks from more than 20 countries to art lovers and collectors alike. Over the past 20 years it has established a great platform for art exchange and turned into one of the most conspicuous art events on the Chinese Art scene, serving as a gateway for internationally acknowledged masters like Picasso, Rembrandt, Chagall, Monet and more. Sweatshop presents dBridge

Friday 4, The Shelter, 60RMB

A veteran producer and one of the most experienced artists in drum 'n' bass, dBridge is a drum ‘n’ bass chameleon, over three decades producing everything from ‘90s jump-up jungle cuts to today’s soulful and relatively minimal sound as the Exit Records boss. He’s joined by Siesta, Reinstate and the rest of the Sweatshop crew.


Elsewhere, Saturday sees microhouse night micro/wave bring much-hyped Japanese producer Takashi Himeoka to Elevator, Antidote have original Honey Soundsystem member Bezier at DADA and FOOTPRINT have Berlin techno maestro Stefan Goldman at Arkham.

Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles

Saturday 5-Sunday 6, Lyceum Theatre, 180-380RMB

Founded in 1930, the Lyceum is one of Shanghai's oldest theatres. Following Halloween this week, the UK's Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents the spookiest of the Homles stories at the space.

Literary Lunch: Chef Virgilio Martinez of Central

Friday 4, Glam, from 328RMB

Phaidon & M on the Bund host renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez for a literary lunch. His latest cookbook, Central (Phaidon Press), traces the geography of Peru itself, illustrating the country’s rich diversity from the coastline to the heights of the Andes up to the Amazonian jungle. Join for insight into his travels, his quest for lesser-known ingredients native to Peru and, of course, for a taste of dishes inspired by Central.


Elsewhere, casual but opulent Spanish restaurant SABOR celebrates its official opening on Sunday 6. Spanish Michelin-starred chef and owner Diego Guerrero, together with SABOR head chef Gonzalo Sainz, has developed a multi-course tasting menu specially for this day, available from 7-10pm.

Sun Kil Moon

Tuesday 1, Qianshuiwan Creative Arts Centre, TBA

Songwriter for seminal American slowcore act Red House Painters and a renowned act under his own name, Mark Kozelek returns to Shanghai under his Sun Kil Moon moniker. He'll also be joined by former Sonic Youth sticks man and regular recording partner Steve Shelley on drums.
