

The annual Shanghai Tourism Festival is back in town from September 10 to October 6, offering a month of discounted tickets and a grand parade to celebrate all that is wonderful about tourism.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held along Huaihai Lu tomorrow evening (September 10), kicking off a month of discounted admissions and activities. In conjunction with the opening of the first Disney resort in Mainland China, a Disney-themed float will lead the 25-float continent out for the parade, which starts at 7.30pm.
Smaller parades will be touring around Shanghai over the next week, with notable stops including Daning International Commercial Plaza on September 11 at 7.30pm and Nanjing Lu Pedestrian Street on September 12 at 7.30pm.
26 performing troupes from 22 countries from around the world, including the US, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, Serbia, Argentina, San Marino will arrive in Shanghai to join in the party. There are also six Chinese teams from the different provinces that are joining in the performance.
Three American performance troupes will put up spectacular shows over the month of festivities along Nanjing Dong Lu, the Oriental Pearl Tower and other tourist hotspots.

Over this period, tickets to 60 of Shanghai's tourist's attractions will be sold at half-price. Included attractions include Shanghai Wild Animal Park (Sep 10-14), Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Jinjiang Amusement Park and the Jin Mao Tower.
