Bad news for EDM and sunset lovers - this weekend's Corona Sunsets festival has been cancelled due to, you guessed it, the impending typhoon that has already made Shanghai a lot wetter than it'd like to be.
Here's part of a statement released by the organisers this afternoon:
Just like last year’s Sunsets Festival, this year Corona selected the best season of the year. We spent a whole year preparing. We invited some of the world’s best known DJs—from the young idol Sam Feldt, to the 60-year old legend Jose Padilla. To preparing the most dazzling stage; inviting the most passionate dancers as well as the most skillful bar-tenders; to making ready a bustling market-place.
And then, after they finished building, and in the countdown stage a typhoon put a halt to our plans and we had to cancel the events.
Even though there is only a 1% possibility that typhoon would affect show on the stage, Corona wants to bring you a 100%-perfect experience.
Whilst this dampens this weekend's plans for Shanghai revellers, Corona have said their Xiamen, Beijing and Guangzhou shows are going ahead as planned.
For ticket cancellation information, follow Corona’s official WeChat account 'findyourbeach' and click the menu to find customer service.
Also due to the incipient typhoon, the second weekend of the High 5 festival has been postponed until November 4-6.
