Looks like it's time to dig out that questionable electric blanket, friends. The first real cold wave of winter arrived in our beloved Shanghai this morning, and it's setting the tone for the next few days with the outskirts of Shanghai set to reach freezing point tomorrow.
This was anticipated by Shanghai's authorities yesterday, who announced a 'blue warning' (basically letting us know a cold snap is imminient - thanks guys). Average temperatures over the next two days are estimated to be 6-8°C, with the lowest temperatures at 2°C in the city and 0°C on the outskirts.
The cold air, however, means that the rest of the week is set to be dry and clear skies are expected over the next four to five days.
But don't batten down the hatches just yet, as this is Shanghai after all - next week is expected to see highs of 15-17°C. Winter may have officially arrived early this year but it seems it's also something of a tease.
