Get ready to wallop someone in the kneecaps with a box of instant porridge: as a final closing down sale, the powers that be at M&S have seen fit to make every single item in their five Shanghai stores half-price – and we mean everything, from the prosaic (tins of tuna) to the more extravagant (giant magnums of champers, hooray!).
However, despite the 'they're so emotionless and stoic' stereotype frequently and perhaps inaccurately assigned to the British, M&S is at this current moment in time... well, a little wild.

Things over there have descended into the vaguest sort of genteel anarchy, with people taking items out of each other's baskets, shopper-based traffic jams in the aisles and hissed exhortations to 'move!' bouncing off the tins.
When we made our own ram-raid to M&S yesterday, there were still goodies to be had. But we're not promising they'll be there for long, because at half-price they're practically walking off the shelves and into kitchen cupboards of their own accord, so those of you that would be moved to tears at the thought of missing out on cheapo wholemeal penne would be advised to get a move on. There's also a load of clothes, shoes and other wearables, but who cares about that when there's Percy Pigs to be had!

All of Marks & Spencer's Shanghai stores officially close on Saturday 1 April, or until stocks last.
