All the beer tonight! From Chicago comes Goose Island's flagship brewpub, Goose Island Brewhouse Shanghai, which officially opens today, Wednesday 8 February in Jingan. You'll find house-crafted beers, vintage ales, cask- and barrel-aged ales and seasonal brews and more stuff like that.

Those brews are getting paired with American eats, like platters of smoked meats with beer bread; bourbon wings, steaks, burgers, IPA mac and cheese and the like. Right now, they're offering 38RMB pints during happy hour, on every day from 3-7pm.
In other news, the newest venture from Paul Pairet (Mr & Mrs Bund and Ultraviolet), in collaboration with the team at UNÏCO, called The Chop Chop Club opened to the public this week.
The carvery concept is all about the roasted meats, obvs, and what with all the hype we've got high expectations. At the moment, there are a small number of spots available nightly, but you'll have to make a reservation, which you can do by sending an email to booking@unico.cn.com or giving them a call at 5308 5399.

Last up, Shingo Gokan of Speak Low has been busy opening his newest, multi-story Shanghai venture Sober Company. With Sober Café and the bar Sober Society already in business for the last week or so, tonight (Wednesday) brings the launch of the last component of the three-part venue: Sober Kitchen, a restaurant offering modern takes on Chinese dishes. Swing by the corner of Yandang Lu and Nanchang Lu on the eastern edge of the Former French Concession to check it out.
