导读:Bandai Namco Shanghai Base has a crazy May lined up

The performance venue formerly known as Qianshuiwan might have a bit of a silly name now, but Bandai Namco Shanghai Base has got a pretty good looking schedule of shows lined up for May, with Crystal Castles, Megadeth and Low all set to play there next month.

Thrash legends Megadeth's return to Shanghai has been rumoured for a while following the announcement of shows in Beijing and Hong Kong, and the promoters have just been given the all-clear by the powers that be to host Dave Mustaine and co here on Friday 12 May.

The very next day, Ethan Kath's synthy electro-punk project and cool kids favourite Crystal Castles will be hitting town. Kath's disco metal beats are these days given a melodic edge by Edith Frances (who replaced Alice Glass as vocalist in 2015) and this show ought to pull in a big crowd. Here's a Crystal Castles classic:

The following weekend, Split Works are bringing Low our way as a spin-off from Douban's Wetware festival in Beijing (which looks great if you haven't already seen the line-up). We'll also be getting Cold Cave thanks to Douban, with Wesley Eisold due in Shanghai on May 19 (at MAO, not BNSB).

The Low show at BNSB is sandwiched by two more spin-off events from a capital-based festival: British electronic popsters Years & Years (on May 19) and Clean Bandit (on May 21) will be in Shanghai courtesy of Beijing's MTA Festival.
