We've all heard of 'Netflix and chill,' but what about Netflix and China? Well, according to Shanghai Daily, amongst various sources, the online streaming giant – also responsible for shows like Stranger Things, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Making a Murderer and BoJack Horseman – has signed a deal with Chinese online streaming service iQiyi to take its first run at the Chinese market.

Guess what black means... Netflix is currently available worldwide apart from in Mainland China, North Korea, Syria and Crimea. (Image: Wikipedia)
Yet to make its bow in the Middle Kingdom, Netflix has close to 100 million users worldwide and is one of the world's leading mobile apps. The deal with iQiyi (China's largest online video site) will reportedly see the Baidu-owned platform begin streaming original Netflix content.

House of Cards is one of Netflix's most popular Originals
As things stand, no details of the deal have been disclosed and we don't know whether it means iQiyi will be showing a selection of approved Netflix Originals, or maybe even some brand new content exclusively for the Chinese market. We also don't know if the full Netflix website/app will become available in China somewhere down the line.

Bojack Horseman is one of the platform's most popular animated series
Currently, Netflix services are inaccessible here - even with many VPN connections - as the site can recognise the use of popular VPN providers and IP addresses. So, the advent of a Chinese Netflix service (in some form at least) will be music to the ears of many a television fan who've been battling to watch their favourite shows while in China.
Let the binge-watching commence!
