With the gorgeous sunny days (mostly) and longer evenings, it’s time to get your trainers on and get outside – before it gets oppressively hot.
If you don’t want to empty out your wallet, check out the Shanghai fitness club known as FitFam for free outside sport.
The mantra of this community-minded fitness group, run by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, is that fitness should be available to all, regardless of your financial situation or circumstances. With a special focus on equipment-free training, this group can hold workouts anywhere and everywhere. They meet at venues throughout the city to get a sweat on, including the Sino British College, wework, Jiaotong University, Cages and the West Bund. The group focuses mainly on HIIT (High-intensity Interval Training) bodyweight strength and conditioning, which is all about cardio work and fat burning.

FitFam also partners with Puxi Run, a weekly women’s running group, and offers yoga inversion training for small groups on Sundays, plus boxing at Golden Gloves Boxing Gym.
Through FitFam, fitness junkies can get involved with a group workout on most days, with more than 1,000 locals and expats now gathered into its workout community. In short, it’s a free and enormous outdoor gym that is dotting across the city to a venue near you.
