Gorillaz fans will already be pretty happy these days enjoying the group's excellent new album Humanz. And now there's another reason to get excited, as a free 'immersive fan experience' called Gorillaz Spirit House is coming to Jingan's Kerry Centre next week.
The Spirit House, which is presented by soundsystem company Sonos in collaboration with the band, promises to 'bring the world of Gorillaz to life visually and sonically'. Here's bassist Murdoc Niccals with the hard sell: 'Come and bathe in high-tech sound, feast on unearthly visuals, and let the experience take you on the ultimate trip.'
To call it a hard sell is slightly unfair as the Spirit House is free to attend, but it does require an RSVP in advance (details on how to do that below). It's already popped up in New York, Berlin and Amsterdam over recent months, and has unsurprisingly been quickly booked to capacity in all of them.
HOW TO RSVP
RSVP-ing is a little complicated as you have to do it on your phone. First you need to follow Sonos on WeChat (ID: sonoscn). Then you need to head to the RSVP page (click 'Read more' below, it'll only work if you open it on your phone), which is all in Chinese, but it's not too tricky to work out what goes where (name in the top box, followed by phone number and email).
You then choose a day and ten-minute time slot, and whether you want to book for one or two people. Booking is until midnight on Wednesday 31, and as we say, best not hang around if you want to be in there.
