Every month Time Out screens one of the greatest Chinese films of all time at Glam, M on the Bund, with complimentary gourmet popcorn and specially tailored drinks. This month's film is Raise the Red Lantern. Directed by Zhang Yimou, the film takes apart traditional Chinese society’s horribly restrictive gender norms in the form of an arthouse psychological horror. Lushly shot and laden with creeping narrative dread, this is arguably Zhang’s best work.
