The Jingan District Cultural Centre has finally reopened its doors to the public after two years of renovation. Opening back on June 16, the centre's four buildings house multipurpose halls, a bookstore, cafe, concert spaces, exhibitions galleries, a 199-seater theatre and numerous training classrooms (including bakeries), with 225 programmes already lined up at the centre and across the local community.
The gallery will be featuring paintings, folk art and handicrafts by some of the city's finest artists, while the at the theatre one can expect performances by such troupes as the Shanghai Drama Arts Theatre, as well as community based shows organised and performed by local residents.
The centre will also be displaying collections of 'cultural heritage icons', including accompanying photographs and background info. For a more interactive experience, visitors can attend demonstrations by guest master craftsmen and will have the opportunity to hone their skills under the masters' guidance. There are also training classes on offer including ballet, photography, wine tasting and chocolate making.
