Anoice



Hailing from Tokyo, Anoice play a mix of modern classical and post-rock that’s drawn inevitable – and favourable – comparisons to Japanese post-rock heavyweights MONO.

The Deer Tracks


Swedish indie electronica act The Deer Tracks make a welcome return in support of their new album Undersvik, which was recorded over the course of a ten-day period of isolation in an abandoned village school. It ought to be atmospheric.

Fête de la Musique 2017



The long-running free Francophone festival of music returns with events taking place across the city, mostly in shopping malls and public spaces and featuring locally based bands. The kick-off party will be on Friday 23 and will feature King Krab, Taiwan MC, and French 79.

Speak Low: 3 Years Anniversary Party



World-famous speakeasy, Speak Low, is celebrating its third anniversary in style. Hidden away behind an inconspicuous cocktail supplies shop, the bar will be welcoming some of Japan's finest cocktail whizzes, Akira Abe, Toshiyuki Kubo and Michihiko Miyazaki as guest bartenders. There will also be a 'flair show' from the world-renowned Hiroshi Ichikawa.

Thai and French fusion pop-up menu at Simply Thai



Chef Jib, Simply Thai’s guest chef this June, is part of a new generation of creative Thai chefs reimagining Thai cuisine with her minimalist style of Thai-French cuisine. Trained at Cordon Bleu and with Chef Philippe Vetele, Chef Jib combines her expertise in French cuisine and knowledge of traditional Thai cuisine - acquired at Bangkok’s Oriental Hotel - to create the Thai-French fusion, inspired by fresh local and seasonal ingredients.

Happy Friday: The Social Table



Happy Friday 2.0 presents to you the first theme of the summer: The Social Table. The Social Table is Jingan Kerry Centre’s first outdoor social dining experience. Chef Carlos Sotomayor has created a unique menu specially for The Social Table, and bartender Micaela Piccolo will bring to you a diverse portfolio of artisanal spirits.

20th Shanghai International Film Festival



China's biggest, star-studded film festival is back in town featuring movie classics restored in 4K: milestone masterpieces, Disney classics and many more on the big screen. Plus watch closely as hundreds of films battle it out for the Golden Goblet Awards, led by jury chairman Romanian director Cristian Mungiu.

Joan Cornellà: A Shanghai Solo Exhibition



Spanish illustrator Joan Cornellà lands in Shanghai with his first exhibition in China. With more than six million followers on his social media, the cartoonist is famous for his dark and unsettling humour, with disturbing themes presented through bright and colourful comics.

Midsummer



Qu Fengguo's new solo exhibition Midsummer, his third at Don Gallery, presents the paintings that belong to the series Four Seasons composed between 2015 and 2017.

Global tech entrepreneur Apple is liaising with Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to introduce coding to young kids in Shanghai. Using Apple's Swift Playgrounds app, these coding classes teaches children how coding works by embedding its principles in fun and interactive games.
